UPDATE: The Missouri Governor has approved the implementation of Remote Online Notary services due to the Covid-19 pandemic. More information is forthcoming. I am in the process of opening up my notary services to allow for online notarization.
Until this has been fully implemented, Notary Public services fall under the following definition of essential businesses, and as such, I will continue to provide notary services for the time being:
"Professional services, such as legal or accounting services, when necessary to assist in compliance with legally mandated activities..."
--See City of Kansas City Second Amended Order 20-01, Section III.3.A.2.xxii.
My policy during the current health crisis involving Covid-19 ("coronavirus") is to thoroughly disinfect my hands, notary seal and pens used prior to each notarization. For those concerned with susceptibility to coronavirus (individuals over 60, those with underlying conditions), I bring a mask and gloves to each appointment. Please let me know ahead of time if you would like me to utilize these during our appointment. Social distancing norms will be respected during each signing.
For those with more pressing concerns, additional arrangements can be made at the signing to ensure protection. As weather permits, signings can take place outdoors, for example.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but it will allow us to perform the necessary work while maintaining the social distancing requirements recommended by the CDC.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks very much.
